Default Good Vibrations .... I think not!

I have a 1996 E320 UK spec.

the whole car vibrates at 25-30 mph, 50-60mph and at a ... well lets say and illegal speed.

i had the prop centre bearing replaced that did help matters, all wheels and tyres are new and have been balanced 3 times. (the old set were just as bad if not worse, so its not them)
suggestions are propshaft flexi couplings front and rear or bottom wishbone balljoints or wishbone oilite bearings.

any comments please. i dont want to spend hundreds on this (but already have)

In my view if you are getting this at 25mph it is NOT normal wear and tear associated with normally worn ball joints, bushings, out of balance wheels etc.

When you say "vibration" do you mean a physical oscillation (regular frequency) or is it just a noise you are hearing or even possibly something intermittently banging around under the floor (eg exhaust).

Assuming the former the most likely cause is the propshaft "dougnut(s) disintegrating".
However bad wheels (and tyres) are also a real possibility but you state you have fitted "new" ones. New or just a different used set?

Thank you for the responses.

the wheels are brand new and so are the tyres.

I am about to order the front and rear flex disks.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi,
You didn't respond to:

there is oscillation at the steering wheel as if a wheel is out of balance.
there was also heavy vibration under the seat before i changed the centre prop bearing, its now further towards the front of the car.
the exhaust and underside is all sound

If replacing the flex discs and center support bearings don't fix it, then, more than likely you will need to replace the driveshaft.

OK,
For there to be such a significant oscillation at the strg wheel something significant must be "forcing" the system.
The only component likely to do this (after eliminating the road wheels and tyres) is the engine itself.
Have you checked that the engine and transmission mountings have not separated at the metal/rubber bond due to corrosion or oil contamination.
Stuart.
