gurgling noise?
high pitch noise?

when you turn the steering to lock on one side, the valve on the pump is fully close. the pressure build up is too high and the oil will escape through release or bypass valve... hence the noise is heard.
the gurgling sound could be from the oil reservoir.
(we are talking of power steering here).

remedy: don't turn the steering to end stop or else the hose cannot withstand (my spelling is right?) the pressure and might leak.
adjust the steering end stopper so you won't reach that point.

nothing is wrong with the car.

Had a problem that sounded similar to yours... Check if you start loosing power steering fluid in the future. I ignored the problem and ended up needing a new steering rack ('96 E320). The seals in the piston that is under the boot let go. Also make sure you use Mercedes power steering fluid only.

Hi,
Try to replace this old fluid by sucking it out from a resevoir with a serange and refill with lucas steering fluid. I think it should be fine.
