Front brake pad replacement 2000 e320
 

I'm in the process of changing the front brake pads. Does anyone know
what the torque specs are for the front caliper retaining bolts?

I haven't used a torque wrench on these but I'd guess that I tightened them to about 65-70 ft lbs. Putting this to the top may give you a better answer.

Easyrider... Where in Sarasota do you get your MB worked on? I've had some good and bad experiences there... I grew up there and have owned 3 MBs during that time. I no longer live there but may be back soon.

German Cars of Sarasota near downtown does good work but they are pricey, hard to make an appt for and get an attitude if you even pretend to know anything about cars.

The dealer is great if money is no object.

I found a guy off of Clark road near Macintosh who was great but I can't remember his name.

Anyway, hopefully you have had a good experience that you can share. Thanks.:cool:

Sorry, Dog, but I've done everything myself on my W210.065 since I've been spending winters in Sarasota. I have 118,000 miles on it and plan to do brakes on all wheels, front wheel bearings, front lower ball joints and tie rod ends this summer.

Any suggestions on where I can find the instructions on how to do all of those things you mentioned in your post for a 2000 E430 Sport? Any particular brakes pads you recommend? Any sights you recommend I order these parts from that you mentioned? I'm new and would like to do some of the work on my own.

I've done these jobs on other cars over the years, and have looked at DIY postings on several Mercedes forums for Mercedes-specific information.
I bought my pads and rotors from AutohausAZ.com.
I also get some parts from MBONLINEPARTS.COM

If all you are doing is replacing pads, then you have no need to remove caliper. Just remove the pins, spread then pads, lift, replace.

Use Akebono euro ceramics - no more brake dust and the same stopping power.

I know this is an old thread, but Waybomb, what do you mean just remove the "pins" rather than removing caliper? I don't see any way to do what you are saying, but otherwise have to get a 7mm hex key to get calliper off, I don't seem to have one in tool kit.

As far as spreading pads, they certainly don't want to move right now with calliper in place.

The only thing I can think you might be referring to is the rear brakes apparently can be replaced without removing the calliper. But again, if that's possible with for front pads, any insight would be appreciated. :D

If I could do this without the hex key to remove the calliper and pressing the piston back, life would be wonderful. B)

A video from MB for w210.065 I've seen suggests that this model requires front calliper removal, which I suspect is opposed to calliper pivoting on only one bolt removal.
