E500 Start Up

Ok... I've scrolled and scrolled and didn't see any posts related to my question... so here's my post
I have an '04 E500 with approx. 26Kmiles on it.
I recently brought into the local MB dealership to check out 2 things:
1- morning startup... the startup noise seems really too loud... like a loud vrrrooommmm... it also had a rattling ticking noise... the dealership replaces the lifters on the hydraulic system and now the rattiling ticking noise is gone... but the loud startup is still there... i joked with the service advisor that my wife's honda pilot starts up smoother and more quietly... so what gives... why the rather loud startup... is this "typical"... its not that loud during the day... just the first startup

2- wind tunnel noise... so when i'm driving it at surface street speed, say 40-50mph... and the radio is off and all the windows and sunroof is closed... i can't help but notice an echoing/ wind tunnel/ tires bouncing on the road, the windows are down type noise... the dealership adjusted the tires up to 36psi and 're-calibrated' something... i forget what... but to me, the sound is still there... again is this 'typical'... i'm i just hearing noises that really means nothing

thanks for any input

RE: E500 Start Up

More than likely you are hearing the electric air pump running for approx 1-2 minutes on initial start-up. This is normal operation..

Tire/road noise is difficult to tell over internet, because of so many variables, tire size, brand, condition, tread pattern, road surfaces etc...
