E430 1998...Headlights lenses Replacement

Hi EVERYONE
,
I removed the headlight assembly from my car to change the foggy lenses, but I am stuck at the point that I could not figure out how to remove the lenses off the housing.

I looked carefully and I see that they are kind of glued ....I read somewhere they are gunglued. On one of the thread here I saw a diagram where the lenses are removable but whoever posted the diagram did not mention any steps how to take them off.

I NEED YOUR EXPERTISE AND HELP BEFORE WINTER TIME KICKS IN>>IT IS already COLD IN CT

i've not had to separate an OEM W210, though I've done this for Depo (aftermarket) to fit HID bixenon. I removed all rubber parts and put the headlight assembly into oven. preheat to 200ºF and TURN OFF. place headlight inside for 10 mins. remove and try to pry lens off. if still tight, reinsert headlight back into oven for another 5 mins. goal is to soften the adhesive sealant surrounding the perimeter of the lens. it is injected into the groove before the lens is inserted.

this was my experience with Depo headlight. i do no presume the same adhesive is used for MB/OEM though it may be similar in concept, ie sealant reusable and softens w/heat.

the lenses are not glass and the housing is plastic.....by inserting the whole thing in the oven..i may destroy the whole assembly....Thank you for the suggestion..I wil wait for someone who did the same procedure or some one with professional expertise.
Thanx to all

this is customary and quite common surgery for plastic housing and plastic lens. the professional headlight retrofitters use this techinque regularly. HIDPLANET.COM is where most hang out. if you're that unsure of your skills, better not to try. I've fitted 12 HID xenon projectors into Mercedes this way....and get paid a pretty penny for the custom lights. :-)

here's one in which the fluted MB lens was replaced by clear lens, both plastic. Glass outer lens are not made for MB. they are plastic with hardened outer. http://i13.tinypic.com/44qws47.jpg

p.s. happen to have set from 97 W210 on the project bench right now. no heating needed. no glue or sealant used. plastic flange clips hold the lens down. off in 2 mins.

so the technique depends on which design used
