RE: E320 engine temperature

Hi My CCCP Friend
Normally, the temperature range of E320 models should be fluctuated between cold start until warming condition is 75-85. If it is out of that range usually higher than you must consider that your thermostat is not working properly and your radiator must be clogging in some areas which cause the flow is not fully smooth. Also, you must know that radiator flush must be performed in every 3 years. I think you should flush your radiator and run some tests to see whether you radiator has some clogging and your thermostat opens and closes properly within specs. Don't wait until you get engine oveheat will cost you a lot of money. I just done my second radiator flush at 63,000 miles on my 2000 E320. I hope that these informations will help you.

Regards,
Joseph

Thanx a lot !!! That was the fitst thing which came to my mind - to fluch the radiator, because I just bought the car not so long ago and have no idea when it was flushed last time (I wonder if it ever was). But other thing is that the temperature comes to normal when I'm driving with speed 40 mph and higher.
Do you know where the thermostat is located, just in case I will need to change it ??? Thats the first time I ever had a MB and I don't know anything about them....:)
Thanx in advance !!!!!

Nothing is wrong with your car. The sky isn't falling either. You need to calm down. Cars aren't perfect.

87C is normal operating temp. The temp will fluctuate above and below that depending on driving and ambient temp conditions. When you drive slowly or in traffic below 40 mph and the ambient temp is relatively high, the temp will rise momentarily. The aux fans will kick on and lower the temp, or driving faster like when you go over 40 mph will do the same thing.
