E320 Driver's Side Mirror Assembly Question
 

The below question applies to the drivers side mirror assembly on a 1995 E320 (W124) sedan. I was reversing from a tight spot in a garage and hit the driver’s side mirror against a pipe. The mirror glass was still attached to the motor and not broken. But it was not stable and flopped around in the mirror housing. I pulled the glass left side as far towards the rear to expose the assembly (see the attachment). It appears that there was some sort of spring attached to the hook on the glass rear side to the mirror housing. This is pure speculation. Can someone comment on my interpretation and how I might fix the mirror?
