E280 1999 (t) 72000 miles. Running rough on start up and gearbox problems.
Hi all and Happy New Year. We have a couple of problems with our beloved E280 that have been developing over the last few months. Fingers crossed someone can point us in the right direction.
When we start the car after it has been stood for a few hours the engine runs a little rough and will not accelerate. If switched off and then restarted it's fine but the gears sometimes don't change until the throttle is let off and re applied. When accelerating on the open road we seem to have lost the zip we used to have which can be frustrating when over taking.
We have had a recent oil and filters change and when I checked the car with an OBD2 scanner all it showed was "multiple misfires" reset and after a couple of days the same codes.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

My best guess with your combination of issues is:
* Mass air meter failing.
* EGR passages plugged.
* Wire harness issue.
