E 320 rear window regulator motor
Hi,
My 01 e320 wagon rear window regulator broke. they sell an aftermarket one without the motor. (are aftermarkets any good?) does anyone know how to install it? I have opened the door panal on my bosses e 320 a few years ago, I just don't remember where mercedes hides the screws or if there are any tricks to it. any advice is greatley appreciated.
thanks

Been there, done that...not too difficult once you get your mind around how MB designed it.
The regulator is riveted into the door. To get the old one out you need a good drill bit of the right size (can't remember the size, but you can figure it out from the new rivets). The dealer has the correct rivets to use for the replacement, if I remember correctly; they are made of steel instead of aluminum in order to take the torque of the window motor.
There are four rivets to drill out and replace. The biggest gotcha is that you need a very strong rivet gun to get the new ones in, since the correct replacement rivets are so strong.
Hope this helps...good luck.
