I have a friend who recently bought an 2007 E500. She has the Navigation screen in her dash and a slot (I guess for the DVD). However, she doesn't seem to have the DVD disk ("unavailable"). She said that when she asked the dealership, they told her she has to pay around $200 a year for that. I did some research on this and saw in some posts that you have to pay a yearly fee for updated DVD disks but I still expect that Mercedes Benz should have given her a DVD with the car when she first purchased it. Now it would be up to her if she wants to subscribe to the yearly update. Appreciate if someone could shed more light on how this works. Sounds like a total rip-off to me...

 

Did she purchase the car with navigation option?
If so, then she can buy the DVD disc. She's not required to update disc every year.
