Default DASH LIGHTS FADE IN AND OUT WHEN HEADLIGHTS ON

I guess the subject pretty much says it all.

I just bought my 2002 E320 and I notice that when the headlights are on, the dash lights (including reading lights above, digital displays, radio lights, etc.) dim in and out. They don't turn completely off, but they just dim the slightest bit - but enough to notice and be annoying. When I turn the headlights off, they all stay bright.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

Normal?!?

Does anyone else experience this with their E320? Just curious. Seems a bit odd to me to have a car doing that. It's almost like the voltage regulator is faulty or something.

was it a private party purchase? if so, ask the seller if he had that happen to him.
