cruise control / gear box problem
 

OK - my second post...this time a little more serious

1997 E-class 280 162,000 miles

recently i've had a few problems with the autogear box.

The tractioin control warning light - the "Big Orange Triangle" flashes after about 5 mins of driving from cold- this goes off after about 10 seconds, or if I ease off the gas.

The cruse conrol only works at speeds of 50mph and below. This equates to almost exactly 2000RPM but i don't know if this is related. Above 50 it engages for 1 second then disengages - just as if I've touched the brake.

The local dealer, who was semi helpful, connected up the car up to a computer but could not find any fault showing.

Any ideas....appreciated
