Crankshaft position sensor
Hey y'all. New to the forum, and I have a question.
I recently purchased an older 2003 E320 (57K miles), and the crankshaft position sensor went out today. My local dealer in Savannah, Georgia, says the price is going to cost around $607 to replace. However, I have looked around and it seems that, even on the high end, my quote is around double what everyone else has paid across places I've read online. Does anyone know what book time is for labor on this part, for an '03? And what about an average cost for the sensor? I've seen it range from $26 to $200. If anyone has any information, could you point me to where I could print this out and show it to my dealer? I have also seen that many dealers charge different rates per hour. A million years ago, when I worked in MB service, we charged $55 (1990-91) and the Washington DC dealers charged $160, so I know that there is a huge disparity in price. I just wondered what was going on with ours. Thanks in advance. |
Also, I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, and should have posted it elsewhere. Please let me know if that is the case.

Hello and welcome to the forum - is your car the W210 or W211 platform? (2003 was a cross-over year).
