Default CPS Front and/or Rear (crank position sensor)

1993 2.6

Parts suppliers (picture below) show both front and rear. How can that be possible?

Did MB make 2 engines, one with front CPS and other with rear? In my car the front visible. Can't see anything in the rear because of clutter. OilFilt etc.

incidently, how does one make the thumbnails full size?

Are you in the US? Then use this for free to determine what you have:

It's not free. They insist on holding your credit card and will bill it after one year, once you've forgotten you gave it to them. Which might be ok if your expiration date is close but I don't trust anyone who wants to sit on my visa number.

Yes, it IS free. I've been using the service a couple of years now. The CC number is to verfiy location only, as the free part is in the US only.

Whatever. Your call. Read the fine print. Print the page, Save for your records.

Ha! I didn't realize you could "buy" more than a year! I'll be buying as many as I can. I'll need a good 30 years more. I hope!

To close out this thread...the front CPS runs the tachometer and rear CPS runs the ignition module. Rear requires #30 torx and removal of oil filter for access.

Still haven't found the problem -stalls when hot. Seems to be common symptom but 30 possibilities can cause it.
