Default convenience module

anybody ever heard of that? I have been told many tales about the old 300e series and not believed it but this one is true....yet, I still don't understand it completely. Anyone have any experience with this mythical (yet real)component?

Yes, so I am learning...I located it under the rear passanger seat on the drivers side.Easy to swap but it looks expensive.
I lost my power seats, windows, sunroof and wipers all at the same time. I swapped relays and checked the fuses which seem fine. I can't believe I could lose so many functions at the same time due to multiple relay/fuse failure. The only 2 things I can think of would be the ignition switch or this box. But things like the heater and headlights/marker lampsand locks work fine..Any ideas? I really cringe at the idea of taking this to a shop as is exactly that "we'llhave to take a look and let you know" situation that could be $100 or it could $600. Thanks for any help.....
