Default Considering joining the clubneed some advice

Attention E Owners!

I'm seriously considering buying an E series E320, E350 or E500 (2004 or so vintage) and would like to hear from some owners on the following

1. what the real maintenace of these cars like? general issues, common problems, etc.
2. what's the best years (keeping 3 or so years older in mind)
3. what are the years to stay away from
4. Your experience withMPG (city/hwy) for E320, E350, E500

Thanks in advance

Stay away from the 2003-2006 E Class. They are known for electrical issues. Buy a W210 E Class. Find one low miles under 50k(E32,E430,E55) They are out there just look. You can find one for $13,000(E320)-$20,000 for an AMG.

As far as the newer ones. Get a 07 or newer. They got rid of a lot of issues by then. The 09's are out.

They ALL have catalytic converter failures(vibrate loose) by 80K and the airmatic suspension has a stressed wire problem in the harness. The wagons have a bad connector issue to the rear fuse block but that can be resolved easily. Overall, the car is still a good reliable machine and can be bought for reasonable money.
