A/C Convertred, but needs more air on condenser
I converted my 1986 300e to r134a last year. It cools great on days when the temp is below 90 degrees and cools great on the road when temp is around 100 or so, but when running in town on 100 degree days, it just doesn't cool very good (stop and go traffic). I know 134a is not as effecent as 12, but have been wondering about more air on the condenser. I know the new model 124's use a dual auxilary fan in front. Has anyone replaced the single fan with the newer dual fan? Did it make a difference? What about the electrical connections. Will the single fan relays and fuses handle the dual fan?
Another option I thought about was adding a second condenser. Has anyone tried this?
One other question. . . when did Mercedes make the change to 134a on the 124 models?
