Broken key in rear hatch lock?
 

Hello Forum,
I recently purchased an E320 4matic wagon and I haven't purchased a good service manual. So please bear with me. I'm having a bit of trouble locating the anchor bolts to the lock and tumbler for the rear hatch. My key will only go in about an inch. I need to disassemble to clear an obstruction. Does anyone know the procedure?

Standard practice.
Lock removes from within boot/trunk lid cavity, NOT externally.
Need to remove trim board on trunk lid.
No special tools or procedure.
Have you squirted some release agent/oil into the barrel. Strange that key goes in only part way. A (previous) broken key would prevent the key going in since it would shear off adjacent with the aperture.
Sure you have the correct key? Does the key work the other locks?

I have spray silicone lubricant inside the lock with no change. I have removed the trim panel of the wagon's hatch and can see the key lock mechanism. However, I have not been able to see the bolts that anchor it. I had hoped that someone had experience in removing the lock's cylinder. There is definitely an obstruction. The key unlocks the drivers door, and even if either lock were changed, I would think it wouldn't prevent the key from being fully inserted. Thanks for your attention in this matter.

Locksmith trick to remove broken key.. ****** Fishook. A small fishhook that has been straightened out can often be slid past a broken portion of a key. The barb will hook the key and it can be pulled out. OR.. the prior owner was the victim of the crazy glue in the lock trick.
If IT IS "crazy glue" it can be released with steam. I would remove the lock before I steam it as the steam is invasive and can harm paint.
