Back seat interior light

Was about to change back seat (roof) interior light. The new light has two small separate "read" lamps and as well a separate plug.
The "old" setup only has one cable to the lamp.
Can I join the two cables from the new light to get it work?
Any suggestions....

Tried that setup but couldn't use the switch function for the "read" lamps...:mad:
