Unhappy anti theft/ fuel switch/

I have a 1986 190e series 4 clinder w 113K on it
today it was running perfect then i was putting the dashboard back in-the middle part where the buttons are for the heat/ac control....on the back side of that there was a small clear fuse, i removed it to see if it was good and put it back...when i turned the key the horn sounded until i shut the key off...then i replaced the fuse correctly as it had slipped...
after i did that the car will not turn over at all (it was not a hard start before) and the guages will not move but the key 'on' noise and the battery light is on, just not turning over and there is a lighted arrow that is on -on the e side of the fuel guage-
Im assuming that i triggered the anti theft system and i need to re-set-
i already disabled the battery/ both terminals for 15 minutes but that did not work- and where is the fuel re-set and/ or shut off switch in this??/
please help before the husband gets home

WELCOME to the forum, hopefully he's not home yet.

Attach the battery connections.
While the alarm is sounding and the door is closed.
With you outside the vehicle, lock and unlock the drivers door with the key.
Should work??
