Default Alternating red green led´s and not start

Hi everybody!

I have a problem since 3 years ago. Please I need help.

I have a W210E 300 Diesel and when the motor is hot and stop and I want to start again, I can´t. At this time I see the alternating red green led´s.

I have to wait 20 minutes and then I can start.

Thanks in advance.

On my 1996 e300d, had alternating red & green lights on rear view mirror. On my model, this indicates an unauthorized attempt to start (part of the security system). Try the following: (1) check battery and replace if weak, (2) replace batteries in remote key if you have one, (3) with flat key, lock and unlock the door several times from outside.

If none of the above works, next on the list would be a faulty k40 (overvoltage relay). Remove and replace with new unit.

I had a similar problem and went through the same steps. Once I replaced the k40 relay, all was well.

good luck.

I Just have a 1996 E300D. Very nice car. Remotes wasnt working at all according to seller but I got them fixed. Problem is I feel the batteries get discharged very fast. I do have alternating flashing of green and red light from the rearview mirror that last for a long time (more than 1 minute after using the remotes to lock or unlock doors). Is that normal? Also I have to be by the front door to point the remote to the rearview mirror. If I am even in front of the car remote will not lock/unlock the car. Can Someone help please? Thanks in advance
