Question Air conditioning issue, please help 1990 190e I think?

Ok so u absolutely know nothing about cars at all so I apologize if I get sone of the info wrong. I think the car is a 1990 190e. Lately everything in it has been falling apart but lately the air conditioning has gone faulty it blows cold air out of the middle vents when the side vents are shut and hot air out of the defroster no matter how much I mess with the switches. What do I do ? Please help??

Default 190E climate control

The 190E is a pretty solid ride so don't panic.

It sounds to me like the climate control module may be shot. The dial with temperature settings, and the push button switches are all part of this module. These are available but not cheap.

If you really don't know anything about cars, this is probably not something that you could fix yourself. Forget the corner gas station or the shade tree mechanics that work on Fords, Chevy's or Japanese cars. Find an independent repair shop with a MB and BMW logos on their sign. Ideally, the person has an northern Europe accent. The prevailing shop rate is going to be around $100 per hour but they will save you money because of their familiarity with your car. This is an hour an a half job plus parts if you know what they know what they are doing.

Good luck.
