99 E320 No Brake LIGHTS!

I took my car to a local shop (MIDAS) to replace bulbs since it was next to my work and could do it. They showed me the bulbs, perfect shape..?

I called one of the dealers and said it could be other things (500 Dollars to replace)!!

HELP!!

first check your fuses.
second does your cruise control work.
sounds like one side of your brake light switch is out
