98 E430 won't always start
I replaced the EIS on my 98 E430. The two keys that I have will sometimes start the car. If the engine cranks but won't start you can put the key in the # 1 position and after about six seconds there is a click heard in the right side of the dash. After the click is heard the engine starts every time. Try it again and it may or may not start. Leave either key in position #1 again for six seconds, a click is heard and the key will start the car. Any ideas? I don't want to waste any time or money on new keys or modules as a guess.

usually the problem is the ignition lock that has a delayed release which Im pretty sure is seperate from the EIS. you shouldnt be able to turn the key in the EIS until you hear that click sound of the ignition relaeseing

My Remote Case fell apart, separating the Key from the remote. The remote stopped working so I assumed it is busted, I have been using the Car with just the Key for Door and Ignition for over a month. I bought a new Remote Case on Ebay, came with Type "B" mine is "A" had to slightly modify my Key to get it in the new Case everything was good, Key worked for 2 Days Yesterday the Key would not turn at all. I still had my remote on the Key Chain before I changed the Case, so I figured to try new Batteries wouldn't hurt, Remote works again but my Ignition does not. Is there a way to resync the Key with the Car or is my only option to tow it to the Dealer? can it be bypassed (disabled) thanks |
