98 E320 stopped inthe middle of the road...Please help !!!
it's not the crankshaft position sensor then because it didn't store any fault.
it's time to bring your car to a good technician. no need to waste time and money for trial and error.

Thats the thing- I brought the car to a good mechanic (all he does is MB) and he didn't find anything, he was the one who checked for a fault code! Well, he said that the first thing he would go for is the crankshaft converter !!!
Check the voltage regulator brushes on the alternator. It probably needs replecement as the brushes might have worn out. The battery is probably dead and you can restart the acr after waiting for few minutes. But the car will cut off gaian as the votage regulator on alternator will not be able to charge the battery because of bad brushes.
Well, I'm about to get nutz! One of my friends said that it could be a computer, and I should maybe reset it ...... any suggestions ? Another guy said that he had same problem on his lexus, but when he changed the fuel filter everything went normal ..... is it possible ???
If the crankshaft position sensor is messed up, shoudn't the "check engine" come out ???

Well, now I know that it's not the fuel filter...
Do you have any other ideas besides crankshaft position sensor ??? Because it turns off only after it gets warmed up....
Thanx...

crank position sensor will not store a code in certain situations, it will probably hold the code during a current fault, but as soon as it starts it has usually dumps the code, its frustrating trying to catch it, 95% of the time stalling and no restart has been the crank sensor.
When a car is towed into our shop and it starts right off the tow truck,I just park it and let it idle for a while, once it heat soaks and dies, I will pull codes before turning off the key and every time its sensor L5 (crank pos. sensor)----- hope this helps.
