98 E320 Questions

I took a 98 E320 4-Matic on trade a few months back and I've fallen in love with the car! I'm hearing that the 3.2 V6 in these will run 300K if taken care of. Anyone know of that motor lasting that long? Also, we recently took the car on a long vacation and logged anywhere from 28 - 21 mpg. I'm wondering if this is consistant with other 320 owners. I just ordered a Owner's Manual online as the car didn't come with one. The dash has started to crack which has been the biggest disappointment so far. Any advice / answers would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Tmjordan, I purchased a Jag some time back planning a trip with my boys, long story short I had it looked at by someone in that part of the country as per my purchase agreement which canceled the deal. Stuck my ticket purchased I then made a deal for the last car I thought I wanted a Mercedes anything, the E320 /98 is what I got and I have to say I love it, got it from the original owner, I have completed a lot of work on the car and have fooled with the injectors as well, wouldn’t trade it for anything but still would like to add to my oldies with an older jag. I pushed the car hard on another cross country venture in September with these new injectors, I like to shift it when I’m passing or have open road so 5000rpm at the top of my shifts wasn’t uncommon and had more than 830klm per tank at 2500 to 2700 cursing or 950klm per tank at 2400rpm not passing in lower than 4th gear! I and the boys enjoy driving the car and also appreciate the subtle look and feel of it! If I could suggest find a good mechanic don’t patch over the worn items replace them, miles add up ware is inevitable parts have a life span accept that and replace them when due, it is what it is when we want to own an older special something! learn to shift the car timing and throttle the shifter is not worthy of the car but with practice you’ll see a difference, of course good brakes for fast driving is a must;)
