98 "E" Help!
Helllo! I have a few questions.... I am looking at a 1998 E320 Sedan, 129K miles, for $6,000. The car seems to be in great shape, and the E's have a good reputation. What do you guys think? To many miles? Too much? Any advice would help, thanks so much!
Private party?
inspect for rust on the spring perches, peel back the mastic and look for it on the front spring mounts.
Check that the recall on the harmonic balancer was done if that serial number is on your car.
inspect if you are good at it,or have a shop give it a good inspection.
Price wise if it is private party, real clean,6 k is a good price. If it is a small used car lot, run, for that price at a used lot, something is wrong with it.

Engine,body,climate controls,a lot of changes.
A 1998 for that money at a dealer, something is wrong with it,they know it and are pricing it because they want to get it off the lot.
most dealers would have that car in nice shape for thousands more retail, they bought it wholesale maybe salvage title or major hoopdie repairs and are trying to find a sucker.
If in doubt, tell them you want to take it to a non partial inspector to have it gone over for previous major damage or mechanical faults.See what they tell you.....
