Default 94-95 E320 reliability

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the site and MB cars.
I am considering a purchase of 94-95 E320. I love the look and feel of those cars.
I found a few deals locally, for one in particular is 94 E320 with 97000 miles, gold color with beige interior. The car looks very clean inside and out. $4000. Is that a reasonable deal? too much? or too cheap (and be suspicious?)

Are there any particulars to watch out for when purchasing these cars? I've gathered that these Mercs are mechanically very sound, especially the 3.2 6's. Are these cars very prone to electrical failures?

I've also looked at a few 1999-2001 Jaguar XJ8 but older Mercedes seemed more appealing in terms of build quality and reliability.

Any advices would be highly appreciated.
Thank you!
j.

Just be sure to set aside money for repairs. Any car that age could have problems at any time. That said, people still speak highly of this generation of E-Class.

Well, I have a 1995 E320 (W124) with 191,000 miles on it. I bought it new and have done only routine maintenance other than replacing the water pump. I think the car is quite dependable and it drives as great today as the day I bought it.

Having had both a 1996 Jag and a 1995 E320, I'd pick the Benz any day -- a much more comfortable driver and more reliable.
