Default 92 Mercedes 400E Questions

Hi,
I have a 1992 400E and it is a pretty kick *** car, but I have a couple questions.
Whenever I accelerate past 4500 rpm closer to 5000, the transmission kind of sticks on me. It won't shift into gear and the transmission sort of jerks inbetween 4500 and 5000 rpm and wont shift unless I let go of the pedal. I think its the transmission, but I want to explore every option before I consider a new one.

Second, I am not sure where the IAT sensor is on the car, does anyone know where that is located? I think it is on the right air intake, but I'm not entirely sure.

Third, If I do get a new transmission, can I upgrade, and has anyone upgraded to a different transmission, whether it is a high performance, close ratio 4 speed or a performance 6 speed. Is it possible and which did you use? I would really like to know.

Lastly, who would you recommend for Mercedes-Benz Performance parts and installation? Renntech or is there a better company for older Mercedes?

Just a couple questions that I would like to know, I just joined and I hope I could get some good answers, thanks for reading.

check your speed sensor wich would tell trani to shift or do the cheap thing first change the trani fluid and filter. I had a 86 300e that when i bought it the trani would slip and jerk i changed the filter and did a drain and fill every 5-700 miles until that thing never had any more problems or about four or five times then after that i changed every 5k owners manual says the slightest impurity in the fluid could cause problems so change that fluid

Well I figured out the transmission sticking on high rpm. It turned out that the control box was loose and some of the boards were popping out of place. Once they put new screws in the box I have had no problems with it. We figured this out after the car all of a sudden died on me on the way to work. At least is was a simple problem, but who would have thought? hah

I had a similar problem on my 92 400E (hesitation around 4500-5000).

It turned out to be a bad overload protection switch, on the side of the transmission. It was retarding ignition pre-maturely.
