91 190E fuel guage problem
 

I have a 1991 190e 2.6l and the fuel guage shows half when the tank is empty. I tried a new sending unit and still have the same problem. The low fuel warning light works fine. When I disconnect the connector for the sending unit, the guage reads empty.. Any thoughts of what this problem may be?......
