300E Transmission
 

I just bought a sick 1991 300E 2.6 that will not upshift from 2nd. I do not have much information but found enough to troubleshoot the System Pressure normal, Modulator Pressure Normal, Good Modulator Diaphram, Kickdown not energized. However, I have no Govenor Pressure. I removed the shift delay solenoid and dump tubing, and the Govenor cover. With one wheel jacked up and "driving" at 20 MPH, no fluid comes to the open Govenor Test port, nor does the Govenor spin. This don't sound good. With the car off, the Govenor rocks back and forth about 15 degrees. Any ideas? Can the Govenor be removed in place? Do I need a rebuilt Tranny?
