2007 E280 CDI - VERY Sluggish for 1-2 minutes on start-up
Hi guys
Not having much luck with my E280 CDI (estate 2007 - the 3.0 litre version).
Basically, once the car has been started from cold and you pull away it has very little 'thrust'.
You have to really rev it hard to even get it moving. You really, really have to over-rev it just to get it up to speed. It's ridiculous!!!
There's a section of my drive where gravel meets tarmac via a kerbing stone which is raised about 5mm (literally!). With the front tyres touching this insurmountable 5mm mountain, I had to almost redline the car to get enough 'push' to get it over this bump!!
Up the drive, engine screaming away as the revs shoot up. Sounds like I should be doing 100mph, but actually doing 2-3mph.
HOWEVER, after a couple of minutes driving the car is perfectly normal again and accelerates with no issues and is a pleasure to drive.
Any ideas? Please help!!

Answer
If it is not contaminated - bad transmission fluid..
I would suspect a failing MB# 0002702600 or MB#2202702906.
The first part is the electronic contact (connection plate) inside the transmission.
The second part is the full valve body assembly including solenoids and the electronic contact (connection plate).
Both have been superseded, and are a common failure on this side of the pond.
Other potentially related issues you should be made aware of:
The SAM (Signal Acquisition Module) has been superseded four times to MB# 2115459101 due to issues..
The The engine control Module has been superseded seven times to MB# 6421508241 due to issues.
I strongly suggest rechecking these part numbers against your VIN# to assure the correct component is ordered.

Great!
Quick update on this: I had the filter and ATF fluid replaced (with genuine Mercedes fluid) and it has completely transformed the car. Quite amazing this can make such a big difference.
The fluid was quite costly - £70ish from Mercedes, and the gearbox services was £80+VAT from a Merc sepcialist. Filter was about £20.
Well recommend this path to anyone with a similar issue!!
