2006 E-350 brake system
Hello,
I've just joined the forum, as I'm about to change the brakes (just the pads I think) on my 2006 e-350, and I'm not entirely sure about the system. Mainly, I should like to find out if the car has the Sensotronic Brake Control? I read in the owner's manual that the car does have the SBC. But, a mechanic friend told me that if the car does not have an electronic emergency brake (just a regular parking brake), then there is nothing more to it than a regular brake change. When I tried to verify that the presence of a parking brake meant there is no SBC, he did not know what that was exactly--which makes me doubt his knowledge about it.
I know that the SBC can be dangerous to work on unless properly unlocked. So I wanted to know if my friend was accurate in saying that since there's just a regular parking brake (not the electric one), then there is no sensotronic brake control to worry about.
Also, if there is the SBC, what is the best way to make sure it doesn't activate, without having the special tool? Is it by making sure that the doors stay locked the whole time?
Thanks in advance,
Joseph
