2001 E320 problems.

Just recently my wouldnt start. i thought it would be my keys, but
nevered happened before. It wouldnt start or go in gear. I just bought a new key from "WALTERS MERCEDES" for $200. I tryed to start my car and it turned on, but didnt go in gear. I also have 1999 ML450 that had the same problem. i took it too the top various mercedes dealers in california. And nobody knew what was wrong with it. what should i do next?

why did you buy a new key?was it programed to the car?
