2000 E420 AWD

Gents and Professionals,

I just bought this bad boy uesd(E430 AWD). I got the Fuel Trim Code errors. I know thats to do with the MAF. If i clean the MAF sensor will it possibly get rid of the codes? Also I dont know if this has to do with the codes BUT The car has AWSOME accelerration, but when i push it like a race-car. like its Max RPMs the car no longer accelerates. Here is the scenario:

Some guy tried to cut me off, And i sped up by flooring the pedal, the RPMs goes up but no speed. I had to pull over to the side and go back to PARK and then into DRIVE and car was OK again.

What does this indicate? Does this have to do with the MAF and the Fuel trim codes?
Also if it does and I need to clean my MAF can someone send me a PIC of what it looks like? I popped the hood with ELECTRIC Dust cleaner and couldnt find that bad boy anywhere. I found on my C230 (when i had it)....

Sounds like a slipping transmission. Nothing to do with the MAF. Does it happen every time you nail the throttle?

Yes it does...but since this baby is V8 i got up to 130 MPH easily. I mean as far as acceleration goes its awsome, and I see no power loss in the acceleration. Just in cases where I am going about 40MPH and i floor the pedal and then it just does nothing, then I have to pull over go to Park and then back to Drive and its ok. Do you think its a trans slippage? You guys are the pros....
If it is a tran slippage, does that mean i have to replace the whole tranny? OUCH?

Check the fluid of the tranny. Thats the most compain thing to cause the tranny to slip is lack of fluid.

Here's some good instructions on how to clean your MAFF/MASS Airflow Sensor. --> http://www.louv.tv/cars/m5/MAF/ It's on a Beamer, but yours should look almost exactly like it.

I usually use precision electronics cleaner from radio shack and have had very good luck with it.

I usually remove the sensor, clean it, let it set overnight to completely dry out, reinstall the sensor, install a New Air Filter and New Fuel Filter, clear the codes, and the problem goes away. You should also notice increased throttle response.

Here's where it's at on your car.

I just replaced MAF sensor on my VW.
Dealer wanted $96 for diagnosis, when sensor cost (thanks to VW forum) was $80 + $2.70 shipping.
The 90-seconds job was no-brainier.
OK I admit - it took me 3 minutes, because I dropped the screw inside engine.
