1993 300e 3.2
 
New to the site with questions.Just bought a 1993 300e 3.2 with shift problems .The car has 190,000 but looks and runs great i bought it knowing that it had this problem .T car will shift once then when it starts to shift again the rpms goes up at that time you can let up some on the accelerator some and it will shift then in a moment it will make the last shift just like it is suppose to .Anybody have an answer to the cause of this

My best guess:

It sounds like a vacuum issue.
* There is a problem with the Vacuum supply to the transmission modulator.
* The transmission modulator is damaged.
* The overload protection switch and/or O-ring are failing.

update
 
unplugged modulator line at engine and drove car .The first shift was hard the second shift where the flare was happening at now has very little flare and hardly noticable at all but shifted hard.Does this indicate a bad modulator or something else?

Replace and adjust the failing transmission vacuum modulator.
