This 1987 190e is overheating

ok i replaced the water pump and the thermostat...now when i'm in idle or at a light..the car will overheat past 120 and a hose pops off... its the hose on top between the radiator and the engine...a friend took the big white fan off between the radiator and the engine...we turned the car on and i felt the bolt that holds the fan moving..but he thinks that it still the fan clutch...i was told by someone else that the fan only runs when it reaches a certain temp. i have 136ks on the car i just it to last another eight months so that i can buy a new car...does anyone know what the problem could be and if i can fix it myself...cant afford to keep putting a lot of money in this car and im sick of looking under the hood... i was going to try and purchase a 1999-2003 m series put after dealing with this car...i dont to even want to look at a mercedes...

RE: This 1987 190e is overheating

1: :eek:try the lower temp. thermostat .and make sure you bleed your coolant system with the bolt at the top of the thermostat top housing .
your radiator cap must be tight and that little hose pop out have a good coolant go throw because this car have internal coolant system .its mean coolant must be internal circleration only.
2: now check the heater pump is working or not ,if not you have to use a hose to bypass it.
3: now you can look at you electrical fan clutch.when cool it wont click in .the eay way is un pluge the clutch haness and aplied the 12v to se the fan working or not .
4: check the front aux fan is working when hot .this is the fand at the front of the ac condensor .if you can find the aux fan temp.sensor ,you just unplug the sensor then it should turn on the fan by itself while the car is running.
:Dhope the above information can help......
