CLS 320 CDI juddering on idle and on creep - HELP

Hello - I am new to this forum - have a 56 plate 320 CDI - yesterday I noticed a juddering sensation in creep in traffic - almost liek it was missing (if it were a petrol I would suspect ignition) - when stationary - it isnt smooth on tickover. Any ideas ?
