tilt wheel

Steering column stopped moving up and down. Still moves in and out. I can hear motor running. Anybody have any ideas if there is anything I can do or reset? Thanks

Hi lockmanmd,

I have 2005 C240.
And I also have the same problem with the steering wheel(up and down).

Did you fix alright?
If so, please let me know what and how.

Thanks

usually you can go all the way up and all the way down and hold it at each place then try to go in and out. again, try the procedure a few times and you might have some luck. the colummn looses its normalization and needs to be relearned. but you also could have a bad switch or motor.

your 2005 c240 is different than his clk its a different set up. you most likley have a broken rubber piece that is used to move the wheel up and down. you can try the same procedure as i told him and it might work. but your c240 has commom issues with the rubber "rods" breaking

Hi Chassis221,

Sorry to bother you again.....

I'm going to bring to the dealer or the Benz Specialist to fix.
Is it a big job to replace if the rubber "rod" is broken?

I appreciate if you owuld give me some idea?

Thanks!

cheap part, but maybe 2 hours labor depending on who works on it.

Hi again,

Thank you ver much for your geat help!

I better check around where I should bring!

Living in Hawaii, everything seems like more higher.....the labor fee at Mercedes Benz Dealer in Hawaii is $125 per hour now.
Today the Dealer gave the estimate is $1,000(part & 4 hours lobors).

Again thank you very much and I really appreciate your help!
