Default Sunroof problems

2001 CLK 430 -sunroof seems to have a mind of its own! It tips up 'n down just fine....., BUT slide it open and it won't close all the way
leaving a 1/2 inch gap...no obstruction visable in front or on side tracks...had this happen during a famous Louisiana rainstorm- bad...
AND when trying to close it the final half-inch the control reverses itself! Push the toggle forward near the end and it goes backwards, pull down and it goes forward, push up and it goes backward, etc..........Anyone ever heard of a haunted sunroof control?

it happens all the time.

i have encountered this problem many times on different models, but after synchronizing the end stop, it's okay again.

sometimes i may need to disconnect the battery or even replace the OCP.

I am having the same problem for years. I brougth it back to the dealer but they didn't fix it. I kind of give up now. I only use tilt function, because I know if I slid it back, I will have to close it manually.

I went to another auto shop. They want 400 bucks for repair

What sleepwalker means by syncing the roof is to open the roof and hold the button for 10 more seconds. This syncronizes the roof. It should close fine from there.

follow-up...
tried synchronizing the sun roof (open and hold switch for nlt 10 seconds) but no help...dealer says it was the air deflector and a $340 fix P & L....went for option B which is just remove the deflector since i rarely used the roof anyway except when using the smartkey to open windows/roof on a hot day...jusy got service B & wheels aligned at 66M and it cost $914.........oh, its 1 '01 CLK 430..........

I have had this problem twice with my 1998. I had to hold the button after tilting open for about 10 seconds. Holding the button the the full open position does nothing.
