Default Storm Red CLK is gone!!!

I thought about it during the weekend, and the Storm Red CLK I finally decided on was on deposit in the other dealer, so my dealer couldn't get it!!!

I am so upset. My last alternative (now that I want the keyless go) is a Pewter w/ Black.

Any opinions on a Pewter on an 06 CLK?

First of all, I would NOT recommend settling for a second choice. In my personal experience, I have ALWAYS regretted second choices. I always look back and say, "I should have waited", " I should have bought what I wanted". I think its a mistake, especially since you are buying a NEW car. I mean if you were trying to find a rare 1925 SSK in red, and they didn't have one, you might have to settle for another car, because they're truly NOT available.

For them to tell you that an 06 is not available in red is just a way for them to sell what they have on the floor for a quicker sale. This benefits them at the expense of your personal prefference. I'm quite surprized they even did this; sales must be tough now. I would recommend telling them that you want your first choice RED or the deal is off! If you show genuine interest, they will get you anything you want. If you visit MBUSA, the official MB retail site, you will see that you can order any crazy color you want, even metallic pearl turquoise, but it will take about six weeks. But don't think you're the only one to ask for RED; there must be some red ones out there. Be firm.

Call Mercedes of Miami or if I can find the LA dealer I will give you #, but these cities have brighter more festive colors than the more conservative cold weathered states. The last time I visited Mercedes in Miami, they had metallic copper, turquose, yellow, and many colors you typically do not see. Maybe you can find your RED. Check the internet.

You know what you want, so don't let anyone mess-up your goal.

Please let me know how this turns out.

Charles

I agree. Make the dealer earn your business or take it elsewhere. THEY can do a nationwide search for a car. Watch the dealer trade markup though. Get a firm price delivered to your dealership including all delivery prep. THEN...YOU call around and get other dealerships to do the same thing. Make a game of it. You will find the car you want and pay a fair price.

I was looking for a red one before I chose the blue and my salesperson was able to access the MB database of what was coming off the car carrier in Jacksonville/Brunswick, so I agree with the other posters, they can easily do a search and find one for you.

If everyone sees my future posts, you'll know that I got the Pewter CLK. It arrived from Texas this past Friday and I was so excited I drove up 120 miles to pick it up yesterday. I had them do the tints yesterday morning at the dealer so I still can't open the windows. The steering wheel will arrive on Wednesday since it had to be ordered.

To respond to everyone's suggestion, they did do a MB nationwide search based on the car characteristics I wanted. 3 different MB dealers got the same result - nationwide. So I am sure that these 2 were the final 06's left w/ lighting, premium, and keyless. The Storm Red kept showing up as available, but the dealership that had it - (the local one I wouldn't buy from) insisted that it was sold - as they told me and as they told the dealer in Ft. Pierce where I decided to do business.

The only option left was the one in Texas. But I am proud to say that I love it!!! I really thought about the color and it's spectacular. I still have to take pictures of it and post them. I've been busy driving around.

Thanks to all for your good advice!!
