Phone removal

Default Phone removal
I have a 2003 CLK500 witht he phone in the center armrest. As I have no intention of ever using can I remove this with out any problems?
Also under the phone compartment is a larger one with a big black box taking up all the space. Anyone know what this is?

The black box is for the phone system.

Hmmm I was told it is the blower for the rear seats climate control.
