CLK 320 v6 heitation at 4250 rpm
 

My 1998 CLK will not rev above 4250-4500 rpm it holds back however up to this rpm the engine runs extremly smoothly and all the power is there untill this rpm. Could you give me suggestions?

Fuel filter appears good and no starting or idling faults occur!

Thisfault occurs under load or whilst free reving at a standstill!

I have heard that thecatalyic convertersclogging is supposed to cause something similar, butmine have never clogged.

Actually, ...I had a similar problem when the "MAF" sensor started to fail at 100k miles.The silly sensorwouldactually pass the diagnostic test, which threw the mechanic off the trail. But when a detailed testwas performed on the "MAF sensor output curve", itproved to be faulty.
