Check Engine light 2003 /Clk 500

Upon making a 1hr trip to Edison NJ from Astoria Queens . I arrived at the car meet . Shut down the vehicle walked inside for approxomately 5 min returned to vehicle to start .

The engine is turning and continues to turn but seems like there is no ignition and or fuel .
I did this repeatedly for about 4x then chose to shut off engine remove key , re insert key . Reset Dash to fact specs .

The engine turned for about 6 sec then started up . now I am looking at the Check engine light .I chose to leave and go home knowing that the vehicle will not start again .

Arrived home I shut down the engine , re inserted the key and started like nothing ever happened . The vehicle will be brought in for servicing but any thoughts or similar experiences .

The car has 67,000 miles .

Thanks Jimmy

cps sensor

sounds like the crankshaft position sensor

sounds a little more like a camshaft position sensor. the fact that it started eventually makes me think this. majority of the time when the crank sensor goes out it will not start until it cools down after about 30 mins if not more.

Check Engine light 2003 /Clk 500

Hi,

My check engine light just came on, I started my car, went to get gass not 5 inutes away, stopped the car, put in gas, started the car, drove 5 min back to work and was setting up to reverse park.. I put my car from D to N and the car reved up to 15.. and staied steady.. it usual reves under the 10 mark.. I put the car in R and parked and put it in P, the check engine light came on! (at this time I was using the Keyless start buy holding the break and pressing the egnition button the on gear shifter).

I turned off the car, back on light still on. I didn't attempt driving yet but i'm eventually going to drive home from work. Anybody come across anything like this in your experience? Any assistance would be apprecated.

My car also has about 67,000 miles on it.
