Air bag question>>>>help!!!!

Im in the process of changing my air bags (driver wheel and pass side dash pad). Im really confused because Ive been told different things. I purchased the pass bag and brain from one car. i was unable to get the driver wheel from that same car, otherwise i would have a matched set. Which brings me to my question, do the ID#'s obsolutely have to match or can they be reprogrammed to work. Park Place tells me they HAVE TO MATCH 100%. I dont know if this is true. If so I'm screwed. I need some experts to weigh in on this. Any help on this would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!

One CAN use different air bags as I changed the air bag on the 209 with a different steering wheel with paddle shift and a Leather AMG air bag...NO codes or SRS problems
