Default 2002 430 tires

I asked about tires before, but no one gave me advice on which ones to get. I had the Pilot Sport PS2's...started getting Michelon Exelon's....i can't stand them in comparison. he PS2's have so much grip. changes the ride completely....what kind of tires does everyone have? how many milse do you have on them?

I brought my 2004 Clk500 to the dealership for a slow leak in one of the rears and they found nails in both and replaced them with a pair of Federal SS 595 tires and 6000 miles later these things are gone. They looked like drag slicks. Of course the dealership said it was the power and maybe I was spinning the tires. I don't drive aggressively enough to even know if these were extra soft compound, but everthing I read about them said they were real grippy, and the drifting guys use them in Japan. I've never seen tires ware so quickly.

I can't believe that no one seems to care about tires. All this time and only one response that didn't really tell me what I wanted to know. I went back to the PS2's. Bought an entire set. I'm so much happier with the ride of the car. I'm scared that they will wear out again in another 20K miles or so. If anyone has any input, I would really love to hear it.

I originally had the PS2's on my CLK and other cars. On the CLK they lasted for about 18,000 miles and this was with out major abuse. They do wear out rather quick. Nevertheless, the ride is so much better then other tires I've had. When they get hot they really do stick. They are worth every cent, eventhough they are abit more pricey then other tires.

Have done the pilot thing also, but honestly, if you want the best tire, regardless of price, trust me nothing beats the bridgestone potenza SO-3 pole positions... The SO stands for special order so right there you know they will cost a bit , but trust me, i drive my clk 430 hard and they are unbelieveable !!! As for rain, they make you feel safe and not afraid to break hard or to hit the gas either..tread life isnt great but the performace is well worth it especially if you like to drive hard.. In good weather, you will really be able to feel how well these cars perform..Also road noise is good and cornering is un real!!! By the way best deal i found on them was tirerack.com...Remember they will cost you though
