Help! The little plastic cover button on the AC fan speed switch broke on my 2002 CLK. The dealer says I have to replace the whole switch assembly ($600). There has to be another way. Anybody know where I might find this little piece? Local junkyards have been no help. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

dealer was right. it's only sold as a unit.

they must have few units there which is bound to be destroyed anyway. those which they replaced under warranty and it's sitting there inside the store room.

call your dealer and use a little negotiation skill in talking them out to pull one of those cover for you. in return, you can do a little service or bring that pretty service advisor out for dinner.

I have an extra fan button cover if you need it just the cover though. The same thing happened to me and I was able to get two of them.

 

Become good friends with the manager of the parts dept. This will help you out alot!!!
