helping a friend install brakes but afraid to even start it. thanks

If it does have SBCyou can unplug the connector on the SBC unit and then do the brakes without a problem. make sure the key is off before disonnecting the plug.

If it's a USA car, only sl,e,cls and maybachhave sbc, other countries i'm unsure of. Unplugging an sbc unit will not get you out of the woods. we've had a shop disconnect and put brakes on. SBC light came on redand only emergency braking was avail. SBC has to be deactivated to do work on the car, When it is reactivated withSDS (mb diag computer) it will ask what work was done. This puts the pads into the rotor. If this takes to long to when starting the car it will set a fault. SBC = MB workshop only.
