URGENT!!! - Various problems with my C200 Sport Auto (V Reg)

Hi there.

This forum has been a source of answers for me for a while now, but I've got a few problems with my car, and I just can't find the answers. I'm hoping that somebody can help.

The car is a MB C200 Sport Auto, and has a V registration (I think that makes it either 1999 or 2000?).

Also, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but these problems started shortly after having the water pump replaced.

Anyway, this is how things started:

First of all, the heater in the car stopped working. It would come on occasionally, and I would always be able to get warm air while the car was driving at speed, but I would get nothing while the vehicle was stationery.

Then the windscreen wiper started acting weird. If you put it on the first setting (the intermittent one), it would wipe constantly for a few seconds and then just stop wherever it felt like it. It is exactly the same regardless of which position the wiper control is set to.

Following that...I discovered one morning that my battery was completely flat. Something was draining the battery, and I didn't know what it was. One of my neighbours said that they heard the fan behind the grill running during the night, but they assumed that I had just returned from somewhere. I discovered it myself when I noticed that after the car was switched off, the fan did indeed start, and it just wouldn't stop. I ended up having to disconnect the fan from the power supply while the car was not in use.

Finally (hopefully), I was stopped at some traffic lights and the horn went off for no reason at all. What made it worse was that it just wouldn't stop sounding - a constant noise that would only stop when the engine was turned off. What made it even worse than that was that I was stopped next to a police car when it went off!! Thankfully they escorted me to a car park so we could take a look at it, but we couldn't figure out what was wrong.

If anyone can help or provide advice, I would really appreciate it.

All those things are controled by Front SAM Module, so figure

And what precisely does that mean? Excuse my ignorance, but I don't really know an awful lot about cars. :(

That means your front SAM is eather gone bad, or not getting enough power (could be ground wire need need to be cleaned or replaced, your battery is so weak), or just need to be reprogramed. BTW how old is your battery?

The battery is slightly over 2 years old - that's how long I've had the car, and the battery was replaced when I got it. Thank you for your replies. Just need to figure out how to check out the things you have mentioned.
