Unlock Code
 

Hello, I bought a MB c230 1998 from another person who was leaving the country. I changed battery but now I need code to unlock stereo. I called MB dealer in my area but they say I must go to dealer who sold it. Amaizing but true. I don't even know if this vehicle was bouth here in Florida. Can somebody help to find this code?.

The stereo code is usually in the manual which came with the car. try looking in their for a little like bussiness card?

That does sound a little strange. However, dealers have access to a data base called VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) which lists all warranty work done on your vehicle plus the invoice date and invoice dealer. I'm not sure why they would have a problem giving you that informantion.
If they're unsure if you're the owner, they could ask to check your registration.[sm=smiley14.gif]

ALSO, I just checked and the VMI (I had a dealer print one out for my car) has the radio code so any dealer s/b able to give it to you. My guess is they were being excessively cautious. Show them proof of ownership and ask them to check the VMI for your code.

Take the radio out, put it in a freezer for ten mins. The codes are erased then put it back in the car! Voila!

I have that happen to me also when I changed the battery in my 1996 C280. call any local dealer (parts department) with your VIN number and they will give it to you
